The Wyoming Office of Tourism (WOT) is responsible for creating and deploying inspiring and innovative marketing campaigns that help to boost Wyoming’s economy through the positive impacts of travel. We support and foster destination development, making our local towns and counties visitor ready. By doing so, we contribute to the economic well-being of our communities and our residents. WOT is the only statewide organization dedicated to growing the visitor economy. The WOT Business Operations team serves Wyoming by advancing the organizational excellence of the agency. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Analyst to join our team. As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of Strategy and Business Operations in managing research contracts for economic analysis, balanced scorecard tracking, and the overall growth and health of the visitor economy in Wyoming. Everything we do is rooted in data. It guides our strategic decisions and provides necessary benchmarks for determining our success. The Data Analyst will provide meaningful data and strategic insights to WOT and key partners, including Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs), local governments and state government agencies.

Responsibilities

Coordinates and interacts with research vendors. Assists WOT administrative staff in managing research vendor contracts. Coordinates travel industry forecasting efforts (travel activity, lodging tax collections, etc.) Gathers and manages data transfers to WOT data dashboards/databases from State of Wyoming and third-party sources. Monitors accuracy of the data. Monitors and provides insight on economic and industry trends, as well as destination and statewide data, for use by WOT staff and industry stakeholders. Provides business insights related to agency and industry performance with visualizations of data and insights to explain its relevance for presentations, media releases, annual reports, etc. Fulfills minor research inquiries from WOT staff and external stakeholders as appropriate. Prepares specialty reports as needed (ex: visitor center visitation, tax collections by geographic regions, etc.). Reports to the Director, Strategy and Business Operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as data analysis, statistics, economics, or a related discipline.  3+ years working experience in data, market research and analysis. Proven history of understanding data, finding insights and utilizing data to drive strategy. Proficient with standard office productivity tools including Microsoft products, GSuite, Asana, Slack, and other project management software, etc. Prior experience with managing and manipulating data sets efficiently in Excel, G Suite or BI tools like Tableau. Experience with data visualization and reporting tools. Knowledge of statistical concepts and techniques, including regression analysis, forecasting, and trend analysis. Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret, and analyze complex data from multiple sources. Familiarity with data management principles and best practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data and insights in a clear and concise manner using effective narrative structures. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.  Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and establish effective working relationships with stakeholders.  Familiarity with the tourism industry and an understanding of tourism data sources and metrics is a plus. Knowledge of the State of Wyoming and its visitor economy is desirable.
